Hi, and welcome.
This is the start of the official Panels blog, a place where we will share what we are building across the whole Panels ecosystem: the Panels reader app for iOS and Mac, Panels Store, and all the small tools and ideas that connect creators and readers in a more respectful way.
What Panels is (and what we care about)
Panels began with a simple goal: make the best home for DRM-free comics, with a reading experience that feels great and a library that stays beautifully organized.
Over time, that expanded into features that help you actually read better thanks to the support and feedback of our users.
And now it is expanding again, into something bigger.
Why Panels Store exists
Panels Store is our DRM-free digital comics marketplace, built so readers truly own what they buy and creators are compensated fairly.
The store is creator-first by design: creators keep 80% of sales on the platform, because the work should be valued and the incentives should be aligned.
What you will see on this blog
This will not be a “release notes only” feed. Expect a mix of:
- Product updates for Panels (iOS and Mac), including new reading and library features.
- Behind-the-scenes posts on how we build features, what we learned, and why certain tradeoffs exist.
- Panels Store progress, including new publisher onboarding, storefront improvements, and how we are thinking about DRM-free distribution.
- Creator and publisher spotlights, because the catalog is the story.
Come along
We will keep this blog practical, honest, and useful.
If you are a reader, we want Panels to be the best place to build a lasting collection.
If you are a creator or publisher, we want Panels Store to be the easiest, fairest way to sell digital comics.
Thanks for being here. More soon.
